Sevenoaks Town Council’s contractors will begin important tree works at Mount Close Play Area on Thursday 24th September.
The works are being carried out in accordance with our approved management plan and Forestry Commission felling licence (WMP 1867 Felling licence 019/4277/2025).
The large Poplar trees within this small but important area of woodland are reaching maturity and dominate the site and nearby housing, so we are starting a process of felling. The removal of the trees will be followed by replanting of other tree species, more in keeping with the size of the site, such as Cherry and Apple.
Initially, around half of the Poplar trees will be removed on the eastern side of the site. Once the area has recovered and new plantings are growing successfully, we will continue to remove Poplar trees on the western half of the site.
To reduce the disruption to the public and wildlife, this work has been scheduled for this quieter time of year, outside of the nesting season.
The work is expected to take place over several days. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time and thank you for your understanding.
