Final Bandstand concert will bring summer to a close in Sevenoaks

As the summer draws to an end, so do the much-loved Music on the Bandstand concerts in Sevenoaks. In July and August on Thursdays and Sundays, Sevenoaks Town Council has brought the community together to enjoy free concerts at the Vine.

There’s been lots of singing, dancing, picnics, and on Thursday evenings, when the weather has held out, kids have loved the free bouncy castle.

We’ve heard choirs including Sevenoaks Sings, Soul Train Choir and Rock Choir; opera singers Fiona and Aria Henry; orchestras and bands including Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra, Sevenoaks & Tonbridge Concert Band, Kent Police Band and West Kent Concert Band; as well as popular acts like Ian Fox, Miss D & The Loop and Mainly Sax. A special Open Mic Night on the Bandstand hosted by House in the Basement Youth Café also gave young local talent an opportunity to shine.

The final Bandstand concert of the season will take place at the Vine on Sunday 7 September, with the talented Oxted Band performing from 3pm to 5pm. Bring your bubbly, wave a flag and see out the summer in style! Gather your friends and family and make the most of this free performance at the beautiful Vine Gardens.

Talking about the Music on the Bandstand concerts, Mayor of Sevenoaks Cllr Tony Clayton, commented, “It’s been a great summer of music on the Vine with a wide range of bands and individual performers. A huge vote of thanks to all of them, and to the community who made up such an enthusiastic audience.

We’ve been extraordinarily lucky with the weather on Thursdays and Sundays, which has brought out the crowd. Kent Police Band last week said Sevenoaks had given them the biggest turnout of the summer - and took it in good humour when I told them we hadn’t seen such a big turnout of police in Sevenoaks for years!

Let’s hope they will all be back next year. In the meantime, Oxted Band will be here on 7 September for ‘Almost the Last Night of the Proms’. See you there!”
