Town of Sanctuary Walk
June 20 @ 9:45 am – 12:00 pm
On World Refugee Day, join us for a guided walk exploring Sevenoaks’ long history of welcoming refugees.
The walk visits eight locations across the town where stories of refuge, resilience and community can still be discovered today — from a wartime hospital on Hollybush Lane to the grounds of Knole, where 26 Jewish families found safety in the late 1930s.
Led by knowledgeable guides, the walk is suitable for adults and older children. Participation is free, with a suggested donation of £10 to support the work of Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees.
The walk will be officially opened at 9:45am on The Vine, where the Deputy Mayor will raise the Sevenoaks Town of Sanctuary flag, followed by brief remarks from Sevenoaks Town Council and Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees. Please arrive a few minutes early.
