Sevenoaks Town Council and Sevenoaks Rugby Club collaborate to improve Knole Paddock maintenance

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is offering the opportunity to apply for grant funding for rugby pitch maintenance.

Sevenoaks Town Council have reached a five-year agreement which will enable Sevenoaks Rugby Club to apply for this external funding from the RFU to improve rugby pitches at Knole Paddock.

Knole Paddock is owned and managed by Sevenoaks Town Council. Under the proposed arrangement, Sevenoaks Rugby Club will submit the grant application and appoint an external contractor in agreement with the Town Council to carry out the identified works. It will also be responsible for administering paperwork and payments required by the RFU. The necessary match funding will be provided from Sevenoaks Town Council.

The decision to enter into the five-year agreement between Sevenoaks Town Council (STC) and Sevenoaks Rugby Club was approved by the STC Finance & Delivery Committee at its meeting on 23rd February, marking an important step towards securing sustained investment in local sports facilities.

Cllr Dr Merilyn Canet, Chair of the Community Assets (Open Spaces) Committee, commented, “Sevenoaks Town Council continues to support and work with our very successful rugby football club, Sevenoaks Rugby Club, as we address the challenges of success. The enthusiasm of so many people of all ages playing rugby, both men and women, as well as boys and girls, is impressive.”
